Hi, I'm Dee. My husband George and I have recently purchased the old Williamson River Resort.
Oh My Goodness, what a project ! It's absolutely the coolest place.
The main house and country store were built in the 1880's and they were the old stage coach stop, and the old ferry stop (being that it's right on the river at the main crossing).
When we got there, the store was closed and the place was in abject disrepair. Luckily, George can do anything and fix anything. So, I got the right guy for the job!
The store is open and we make changes day to day. Most of the docks are new and some of the cabins are too. The boat launch is working great and we have boats available for rent, for fishing, or just for fun.
There is still a lot to do, but we're working hard to bring the place back to its former glory. The back staircase that brought the stage coach passengers to their rooms was removed and nothing but the door remains. We are planning to make that into an entrtway for the porch.
| I gotta say, I still haven't ventured into the
attic of the main house. The attic stairs have been made into a closet
but I think it's just too darn cold to break into the attic right
now. But don't worry, the cabins are warm and cozy and the best one,
with its own kitchen satellite TV, lies right next to the river. It
has its own porch and you can sit and watch the river go by or look
for birds, otters, minks, beavers, or frogs that we see every day.
Or just get right out there on the pier and go fishing.
